Bunched electron cooling
Webcooler provides a bunched electron beam of 420 pC/bunch. The current, or the electron number per bunch, is limited by the capability of the cathode an d the instabil-ity due to the collective effect during beam transport. There are two competing factors to obtain the highest cooling rate with a bunched electron beam. One factor is WebApr 4, 2024 · In this scenario, all the electrons are "bunched" in a coherent length scale. Ioka estimated that the ratio between the coherent cooling length scale and the radius r is about 0.15 and this constant is not dependent on other parameters. It means that electron cooling has a very short cooling timescale in a very short cooling distance.
